More about Autism

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a condition that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication. This can also include behaviour patterns that appear limited or repetitive.

When children with ASD are faced with day to day activities they may find it challenging when organizing their schedule, and following the steps necessary to accomplish a task. Olli provides tools that allow children to follow through their schedules and routines. It notifies when a task is about to start, and then breaks down the steps necessary to accomplish the task, making it easier to complete for the user. It then awards points for the successful completion of the task, incorporating elements of game play into the routine.

Gamification is the application of game elements in non-game contexts. There is a small but growing body of evidence that suggests that gamification can be a useful tool for the management, care, and independence of persons with mental health issues. Olli leverages this concept in its scheduling and task management tools, making the completion of tasks easier and enjoyable for the child.

Olli is equipped with an array of sensors that can track health parameters(bio-metrics) and locations through GPS. This gives the device the ability to record health information, sharing it with healthcare providers, and to act as a fitness tracker that builds healthy habits. The GPS tracking functionality allows the caregiver to create alerts based on proximity (arriving or leaving a place), and track the child’s location in real-time. And in case of emergency, Olli has an SOS function that allows the user to ask for help.

The term "spectrum" in autism spectrum disorder refers to the wide range of symptoms and severity. All the features that are embedded in Olli have been carefully designed to provide a better quality of life for users in this varied set of personal circumstances and peace of mind for their caretakers.
